Mater Admirabilis Statue - IN STORE PURCHASE ONLY, no shipping available
Meaning: "Mother Most Admirable"
Feast of Mater: October 20
History of Mater: A painting of the Virgin Mary was covered by a cloth because the colors were too vivid, according to the nuns of the Religious of the Sacred Heart. Pope Pius IX visited the Trinita' dei Monti on October 20, 1846, and asked for the cloth to be removed. He exclaimed "Mater Admirabilis", Mother Most Admirable, when the fresco was revealed. The colors had blended and faded together to create soft pink and blue tones. Mater now resides in all Society of the Sacred Heart Schools throughout the network.
